I just happened to catch this in passing, and found it quite interesting. Everyone who listens regularly knows how much I love a certain FPS from the PS2 era called Black. You also most likely know how much I loathe its spiritual successor Bodycount.
Well I rejoice once more, as Stuart Black recently showed his next brainchild titled Enemy Front to more important press than myself. Developed by City Interactive (which honestly makes me quite apprehensive about getting any more excited), the game takes place during World War II and features some of the lesser touched upon skirmishes.
More surprising than the team hired to develop the game is the tech on which they’re building it. Brace yourselves: they’re using CryEngine 3. Details are scarce at the moment, though there is a nice little trailer courtesy of Destructoid’s Tara Long and Zac Minor that discusses some interesting design ideas and shows a pretty decent amount of gameplay.
I see a lot of Black in this gameplay footage, which makes me excite. Below is a link to a City Interactive web page which gives a very brief synopsis and a few key features, but be warned that clicking ‘official site’ just takes you to Facebook. There is a lot of potential here, I just hope it doesn’t turn out like Bodycount.
