Gearbox, you crafty bastards. Just a few days removed from releasing the Mechromancer class DLC for Borderlands 2 a week ahead of schedule, the development studio has now confirmed that the first DLC add-on for the super awesome game will be coming out next Tuesday, October 16th (the day the Mechromancer was SUPPOSED to come out.)
Entitled “Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty,” the DLC will include all of the obvious checkbox type additions, such as new areas like Oasis, enemies, guns, skins, vehicles, achievements, trophies, etc etc. Specifically, we know that there will be a new form of currency akin to Eridium known as “seraph crystals.” The nod to Star Wars that CEO Randy Pitchford recently hinted at will also make an appearance in the form of a new vehicle inspired by Sand Skiffs. Other than that, there’s not much else to go on, other than the fact that you will be able to play it in just 4 days! It will cost $9.99 or will download automatically once you go find it if you happen to already be signed up via the game’s Season Pass.
Damn. Not only do Gearbox make it tough to enjoy the awesome games that came out this week (Dishonored, XCOM) by putting their class DLC out a week early, but now they are really going for the jugular putting out new content this early after launch. I’m not complaining, but I only know two other people besides myself who have completed the first playthrough of the base game. Anybody out there feeling pressure now that we know how close this is? Whether you’ve beaten Borderlands 2 or not, you can’t deny the sly strategy of the guys at Gearbox. They’re doing everything in their power to keep you playing THEIR game as opposed to any of its competition, and they make it easy to submit when the game is that freaking good. BRING ON THE PIRATE LOOT!
