I’m sure all of you have been trying to figure what is going to happen with Elite this go around. This will be the second time Elite will be available for the launch of a Call of Duty game. This time something is different. It will be free.

The service will be free for all Call of Duty players. They threw out the subscription model in favor of a Season Pass. This is all just a different way of saying the same thing. I’m really glad they went with this option because A LOT of people could not grasp that what they paid for was simply a season pass last year. It confused a lot of their user’s and half of them still to this do not know what was actually part of the Elite Service and was part of the “season pass. Way to go to Activision for being able to speak in a language your user base understands. Even though, I’m sure there will still be questions.

A little bit of bad news to me, yet a sigh of relief, is that DLC will be dropping in 4 updates instead of the hardcore monthly that was displayed last year. Big kudos the content guys for getting content to us every month, but sometimes I was a bit overwhelmed. I like little space in between my content updates. I like being a premiere player and getting maps early, but what fun is that when some of my other friends still do not have them. Maps come out and everyone can get them. None of that wait for a month or 2 for you regular Call of Duty players. Now everyone is the same. I love equality!!

Alright, now for the quick breakdown:

  • Less content drops.
  • No disclosure on amount of content.
  • You will be paying 50 bucks for a season pass instead of the Elite subscription
  • Season pass members and none season pass members get maps at the same time. One is prepaid and one is not.
  • Elite is free

Oh yeah, Elite will be tracking Zombie stats too. Zombie’s fans rejoice.
